City of Hiawassee Special Called Meeting Minutes- WEDNESDAY May 14, 2025 at 5:00 PM

 The Hiawassee City Council held a Special Called meeting on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 5pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Jay Chastain. Present, in addition to the Mayor, were Council members Scott Benton, Nancy Noblet, Patsy Owens and Jonathan Wilson.   Council member Amy Barrett was absent.  Staff present were Court and Deputy City Clerk Sheryl Branson, Deputy Billing Clerk Anne Wiggin, and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.  The meeting was also attended by Paul Smith and Shelly Knight of the Towns County Herald.

The Invocation was given by Council member Nancy Noblet and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Motion to approve the agenda as distributed was made by Council member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council member Patsy Owens, will all present in favor. 

Motion to confirm the appointment of Paul Smith as Chief of Police was made by Council member Scott Benton, seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet, will all present in favor.

There being no need for executive session, motion to adjourn was made by Council member Jonathan Wilson, seconded by Council member Scott Benton with all present in favor.

Meeting adjourned at 5:01pm.
